International Treaty Talks

Interest is growing in the Treaty of Indigenous Nations Meeting to be hosted by the Lummi Indian Nation, July 31st through August 2nd, 2007. Lummi to Host Historic Meeting of the Nations,was the headline of a lead article in Indian Country Today, July 12, 2007 issue. Indigenous Nation delegates throughout the USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia are planning to attend. Leading experts on indigenous rights, political strategies and trade relations have agreed to join the meeting and serve as featured speakers.

Interested parties and tribal delegates should make travel plans soon, as hotel space in the Bellingham area is limited. The Lummi Nation, in response to the high degree of interest in the meeting, has decided to move the meeting from the Lummi tribal headquarters to the Lummi Nation School, 2334 Lummi View Drive, Bellingham, WA 98226. 

NOTE:   Registration is available at no charge either in advance through the website www.IndigenousNationsTreaty.org or prior to the meeting from 10:00 AM to Noon at the Lummi School Auditorium.  If you wish to receive additional meeting materials and be placed on a contact list for future communications related to the Treaty, please check the “Future Contact” box when you register.  A fee of $50 will be collected at the on-site registration to cover the costs of materials and maintaining internet based service.
